J. GREGORY BARROW
Founder and Managing Director
Greg has an extensive background in business leadership, entrepreneurship, and investment banking. He has worked on more than 75 transactions with companies experiencing financial difficulties across a variety of business sectors including real estate and golf course developments to food manufacturing. He typically leads new engagements at GCP personally and with the other members of the team to identify, prioritize and structure all available options. His expertise has been featured in media outlets such as Bloomberg, Dow Jones, The Deal, Denver Business Journal and others. Greg has been a panelist for the ABI’s Complex Financial Restructuring Program for the past two years.
Prior to founding GCP, Greg was a partner at Equity Partners, Inc. and participated in over 50 transactions with companies experiencing financial difficulties. From 1991 to 1999, Greg was the founder and CEO of Peak Resources, Inc., an IBM Business Partner providing information systems and solutions to Fortune 1000 companies. Under Greg’s leadership Peak grew from startup to nearly $20 MM. Previously, he was a top performer and sales manager with Capital Associates International, Inc., a publicly traded computer leasing company. Greg received a B.S. in Business Administration with emphasis in Computer Science and Accounting from Washington & Lee University.
KEVIN P. LOMBARDO
Managing Principal, GCP Management Services
Kevin has extensive experience assisting both distressed and healthy companies with revenue growth, operational improvements, restructuring debt, negotiating with creditors and unions along with locating both exit and going concern financing. He has led two businesses through the Chapter 11 bankruptcy process with both successfully emerging with a confirmed plan of reorganization. He has led and executed the management of the merger, acquisition, divestiture and integration of over 20 organizations with revenues exceeding $1.5 billion in five distinctly different industries including manufacturing, distribution, healthcare, service and technology.
Kevin has held numerous senior executive positions including CEO, President, CRO (Chief Restructuring Officer), EVP and CFO of publicly traded, privately held, fortune 500 and private equity led businesses. Kevin has an extensive background in business leadership, strategic planning, growing revenue, profits and shareholder value of numerous businesses, executive development, entrepreneurship and turnaround management. From 2008 - 2009 as Transformation Officer of a $950 MM Print Services Company of Stamford, CT, Kevin led the development and implementation of EBITDA improvement plans which realized a $23MM increase over a 12 month period. From 2005 - 2007, as Interim President and CRO of Legacy Health Care of Buffalo, NY, Kevin led the long term care organization of 440 beds and four facilities successfully through a Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The result was a successful emergence from bankruptcy and a return to profitability after years of multiple million dollar losses. Kevin received both his BS and MBA from the State University of New York at Buffalo. In addition, he holds a graduate certificate from Cornell University in Human Resource Management.
PETER S. HARTHEIMER
Principal
Peter is the lead principal in our New York City office. Peter has over twenty years of business management experience behind him much of it in distressed markets. He has held positions as Senior Vice President and Business Development Officer within the financial services community. He has also served as CEO and General Manager of several private companies. His knowledge base includes a keen understanding of valuation and asset recovery especially in the areas of health care, enterprise manufacturing and industrial automation. Peter has a broad understanding of structured finance and has participated in more than 20 distressed acquisitions and dispositions, including Agway, Hitachi Seki, Harvey Electronics, Hempstead Hospital and Tiger Aircraft. His vast network of insolvency practitioners, industry professionals and strategic leaders greatly enhances General Capital Partners' ability to service their clients.
Before joining GCP, Peter served as Senior Vice President of ClearBid, Inc., a private equity fund that specialized in distressed acquisitions, the President and CEO of Generative N/C Technologies, Inc., an engineering technology firm, as well as the General Manager of FMS Software Technologies, a division of Finn-Power International, Inc. Peter holds a B.A. from the State University of New York at New Paltz. Additionally, he maintains a board position on the American Bankruptcy Institute healthcare subcommittee.
WHITNEY C. GEORGE
Principal
Whitney serves as a Principal in our Denver headquarters. Whitney provides a multitude of services within the firm. She supports the team in all facets of buy and sell-side transactions including evaluating the financial and strategic options of distressed companies, due diligence, and marketing. As a licensed real estate agent in the State of Colorado, Whitney places an emphasis on real estate transactions and financing opportunities.
Prior to joining GCP, Whitney was a Financial Analyst with Summit Capital Advisors, a private real estate investment firm in Denver. There she refined her skills in property valuations and market research. Whitney received a Bachelor of Science in Business Finance and a Bachelor of Environmental Design from the University of Colorado.
KEVIN F. BETZ
Principal
Kevin is a Principal at General Capital Partners in Denver, CO. Kevin has over 20 years of business development experience, including 14 years in professional services. In these positions Kevin has assisted corporate, legal, banking and governmental clients with complex accounting, valuation, tax and financial issues. His experience includes providing valuation services to a Fortune 500 company for a major acquisition, assisting a national law firm with damage analysis in a Top 15 damage award in 2006, providing expertise in identifying fraudulent conveyance in a major bankruptcy and providing initial real property value basis for the largest Indian Housing Authority.
Kevin's background in professional service client development and relationship management includes recent experience in National Director roles for Clifton Gunderson, a leading, national, full-service accounting firm and RGL Forensics, an international litigation support firm. In addition, Kevin has held regional business development positions with Deloitte's Financial Advisory Services group and American Appraisal Associates. Kevin has been the recipient of two national sales awards. He earned a B.S. at Wayne State College in Nebraska and received his MBA from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. In addition, he has a certificate in M&A from the Anderson School of Business at University of California, Los Angeles.
KEVIN R. BLAIR
Principal
Kevin is a principal at General Capital Partners in Denver, Colorado. His focus at GCP is on the execution and overall supervision of the firm's distressed M&A engagements, including evaluating strategic options and formulating capital and transaction structure. Kevin has proven his leadership and expertise in a wide array of M&A transactions from retail and technology to real estate and manufacturing. He assesses the operations and performances of distressed companies in order to propose various strategic solutions. His experience includes but is not limited to pre-bankruptcy refinancing of existing debt, equity injections, management and/or operational restructuring and post filing sales of going concerns under section 363 and section 328 of the bankruptcy code.
Previously, Kevin was a Managing Director of 1031 ExChange Advisors, LLC where he was responsible for the firm's private equity and tenant in common (TIC) practice. Prior to joining 1031 ExChange Advisors, LLC, Kevin co-founded MBA Investments, LLC, a successful Colorado M&A advisory firm and merchant bank, where he served as the firm's co-Managing Director. Under Kevin's leadership, the firm successfully closed numerous M&A and real estate transactions, which included three multi-million dollar investor syndicates for portfolio acquisitions. Kevin graduated from the Colorado School of Mines with a bachelor's in Civil Engineering and the University of Denver's College of Law with a juris doctor. He is currently completing a Masters of Taxation (LLM) from the University of Denver College of Law. He holds a law license, several real estate brokerage licenses and a series 7 securities license. He is a member of the International Business Brokerage Association and the Association for Corporate Growth.
SEAN M. DONLIN
Principal
Sean is an Associate at General Capital Partners in Denver, Colorado. Sean has an extensive knowledge of corporate finance in addition to private equity sourcing which he leverages to assist and advise GCP clients in the energy, real estate and financial sectors. He also has experience in operations management, including operations restructuring and reorganization.
Prior to joining GCP, Sean worked for a private equity company as an asset manager for a diversified portfolio of real estate and energy field investments. Sean graduated from The Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering and a Masters of Science in Engineering and Technology Management.
SCOTT E. BURG
Principal
Scott is a Principal at General Capital Partners in Denver, Colorado with more than 10 years of hedge fund, real estate and entrepreneurial experience. He is focused on assisting clients through the Chapter 11 process and evaluating strategic solutions for distressed companies. Scott is responsible for the execution of mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations and capital investments.
Scott held the position of Senior Vice President at Pursuit Partners LLC-a Stamford, Connecticut fixed income hedge fund, which managed $500 million. He was responsible for purchase analysis, security negotiation, team management and valuation of the portfolio. He was involved across multiple asset classes and hedging strategies. Prior to Pursuit Partners, Scott founded Clayton IPS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Clayton Holdings. Clayton IPS is a world-wide leader of valuation for difficult to price assets. He was involved in all aspects of business development, asset valuation, regulations, management and operations. At the time of Scott's departure, Clayton IPS had grown to a multi-million dollar business, serving clients across the developed world. Scott received his MBA from Daniels School of Business at the University of Denver and a B.S. in finance from the University of Colorado. He holds both a series 7 and 63.
WILLIAM GARRETT
Principal
Bill is an entrepreneur and business professional with eighteen years experience in starting and running small companies as well as leading large organizations. Bill has extensive background in the areas of information technology and software development and is a licensed real estate broker in 41 states.
Prior to joining GCP, Bill served in various capacities in the real estate and financial services industries including founding and growing his own company, Advantage Properties. Over a 17-year period Bill grew this real estate brokerage and service firm to over $30 million in revenue and he had a total of 300 agents on staff. Bill has an MBA from Texas State University, and a BBA in finance from The University of Texas.
JULES R. PERRYMAN
Analyst
Jules is an analyst working out of the General Capital Partners headquarters in Denver, Colorado. Jules has an extensive knowledge of business finance, and participates in many of the firm's day-to-day operations. Jules works with the GCP team to assist clients through the Chapter 11 process, where he focuses on evaluating and creating innovative financial and strategic solutions for distressed companies.
Prior to joining GCP full-time, Jules was a summer intern at the firm where he learned and studied all aspects of the business. Jules has a widespread educational background focused around business finance, management and economics. Jules spent five months in Argentina studying international business and is a competent Spanish speaker. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Global Business from the University of Redlands.
